In 2021, 1 in 10 of us in the UK still can’t afford to have their period. Buy-One-Give-One social enterprise Hey Girls exist to end period poverty, but we need to raise awareness of both the brand & the issue itself. So in our latest campaign, we had to do something radically different. And crucially, something that would inspire a lot of people to take action.
So, together with director Margot Bowman, we partnered with anger psychologist Dr. Philip Gable, to create a film scientifically designed to evoke anger about period poverty. Every scene, narrative arc, sound effects, music, choice of colour… every detail was optimized. We end by positioning Hey Girls as the solution, leaving viewers with knowledge & power to correct the injustice of period poverty.
